Q: I have my scan data, now what?
Contrary to a common belief, turning a 3D scan into a usable CAD model for manufacturing isn't instant or straightforward. There's currently no quick solution available. Reverse engineering a scanned part involves adding corrections to imperfections, adjusting dimensions to standards, fixing errors, and accounting for inaccuracies in the scan data. This ensures we create an idealized version suitable for manufacturing.
Is the data from 3D scans immediately suitable for 3D printing or CNC?
A: Not always; 3D scans often need additional processing before they are ready for manufacturing. Raw scan data must be cleaned, refined, and converted to ensure the 3D model is structurally sound for the chosen technology.
